Derived from natural origins, Langfos originates from sedimentation in mineral-rich fish waters along the West Coast of the Cape. Over time, these Soft Rock Phosphate deposits were enriched by fossilized marine and terrestrial animals, contributing to a unique phosphate occurrence. This occurrence, now mined, contains a diverse array of prehistoric animal and plant species, totaling 300 different species identified thus far. This rich geological history underscores the unique composition of Langfos, making it a valuable resource for agricultural use.

Langfos offers numerous benefits to farmers seeking to enhance soil fertility and plant growth. Being water-insoluble, it acts as a slow-release product, gradually providing phosphate to plants over an extended period, thereby aiding in the long-term buildup of healthy soils. Additionally, Langfos enriches the soil with essential trace elements, stimulates root growth, and supports photosynthesis in all plants, contributing to overall crop health and productivity.

In recent studies involving earthworms fed Langfos along with other organic food, significant increases in phosphate content were observed in the resulting manure. This demonstrates Langfos' capacity to enhance soil fertility when incorporated into agricultural practices. Furthermore, Langfos contains a comprehensive array of natural trace elements and is registered as an organic phosphate fertilizer with the Department of Agriculture. It also possesses unique properties that facilitate soil restoration in areas contaminated with toxic aluminum, allowing for improved phosphorus release for root development.
